The first recipients of the Highways UK Laureates programme, set up to recognise the achievements of outstanding individuals in the highways sector, were presented at the Highways UK Laureate Awards dinner, held on the evening of the first day of the 2018 Highways UK in November.
Our first Laureate is Ginny Clarke, CBE, former board director of strategy and planning at Highways England. The judges considered Ginny an outstanding nominee and praised her technical excellence, strategic thinking, calm demeanour and accessibility, in addition to her inspirational contribution to the highways industry.
She is joined by two Associate Laureates, identified as future Leaders. They are Janvi Shah, Asset Management Consultant at Atkins, and Balfour Beatty's Ellie Wilson, Roadwork Agent on the M6 J2-4 Smart Motorways Project. Both nominees were acknowledged for going well beyond the remit of their day jobs and for demonstrating energy and enthusiasm in helping to promote and improve the sector.
Congratulations to all. We are also delighted to confirm that Ginny Clarke is joining the 2019 Laureates nominations committee.
